Tactical Review Of England’s Performance Against France. Euro 2012

I’m not sure what a lot of people were expecting from England against France. They were always going to play a defensive game but actually looked ok on the ball at times. Them seemed to play with a bit more intelligence then I’m used to seeing from them. They still resorted to long balls at times but in the second half managed to keep the ball for long periods of times in a manner they didn’t seem capable of in South Africa. I was impressed that Roy Hodson has managed to impose such a structured approach into these players in such a short time. Here is a look at how both sides lined up and how their formations influenced the match. Via zonalmarking.net
